JOY IN THE LORD’S STRENGTH
PSALM 21:1-13

This psalm is the companion of Psalm 20. It anticipates what Psalm 21 regards as realized. Charles Spurgeon says, “If we pray today for a benefit and receive it, we must, ere the sun goes down, praise God for that mercy, or we deserve to be denied the next time.”

This psalm has been called “David’s triumphant song.” “ ‘The king’ is most prominent throughout, and we shall read it to true profit if our meditation of him shall be sweet while perusing it. We must crown him with the glory of our salvation singing of his love, and praising his power. The next psalm will take us to the foot of the cross; this introduces us to the steps of the throne.” —Charles Spurgeon.

I. THANKSGIVING FOR VICTORY vv. 1-6

A. Jesus is a ROYAL PERSONAGE, John 18:37, “Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”

1. Jesus was born KING of the Jews, Matthew 2:2, “Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.”

a. His birth was the PROMISED BLESSING of God, Isaiah 9:6, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

b. He is the SALVATION of Israel, Psalm 62:7, “In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.”

c. He is the JOY of God’s people, Psalm 28:7, “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.”

2. He shall JUDGE His PEOPLE in RIGHTEOUSNESS, Psalm 72:1-2, “Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king’s son. 2- He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment.”

a. Clothed with DIVINE AUTHORITY, he shall use it on the behalf of His people, Psalm 72:12-14, “For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper. 13- He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy. 14- He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.”

b. God has ANOINTED Jesus above all with the OIL of GLADNESS, Psalm 45:6-7, “Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. 7-Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.”

B. He is NOT merely a King, BUT THE KING, John 19:19, “And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

1. He is the King who is OUR PEACE, Ephesians 2:14, 17, “For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 17- And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.”

2. He is the KING of GLORY, Psalm 24:9-10, “Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 10- Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory.”

II. CONFIDENCE OF FURTHER SUCCESS vv. 7-13

A. In His day the RIGHTEOUS shall FLOURISH, Psalm 132:15-18, “I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread. 16- I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy. 17- There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed. 18- His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.”

1. There will be NO FAMINE, Exodus 23:25, “And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.”

2. God will do exceeding abundantly MORE than we can ever ask for, Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,”

B. In His day there shall be an ABUNDANCE of PEACE, Isaiah 2:4, “And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”

1. The meek shall inherit the earth, Psalm 37:11, “But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.”

2. The righteous shall flourish, Psalm 72:7, “In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.”

C. In His day His Kingdom shall be forever, Luke 1:33, “And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”

1. There will be no end of His kingdom, Isaiah 9:7, “Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”

2. It shall never be destroyed, Daniel 2:44, “And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.”

3. God shall give Him everlasting dominion, Daniel 7:14, “And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.”

CONCLUSION

A NATIONAL ANTHEM–PSALM 20:1-9

“If David had not been vexed with wars, we might never have been favoured with such psalms as this. There is a needs be for the trials of one saint, that he may yield consolation to others. A happy people here plead for a beloved sovereign, and with loving hearts cry to Jehovah, “God save the King.”

“The particular occasion which suggested it, it would be mere folly to conjecture, for Israel was almost always at war in David’s day. His sword may have been hacked, but it was never rusted.” —Charles H. Spurgeon.

I. A PRAYER FOR SUCCESS vv. 1-4

A. In the day of trouble, v. 1; Psalms 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

1. God’s promise, Psalms 91:15, “He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.”

a. God has saved us from our worst enemy, 2 Timothy 1:9, “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,”

b. He has delivered us from the power of darkness, Colossians 1:13, “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:”

c. He has delivered us from the wrath to come, 1 Thessalonians 1:10, “And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.”

1) He is our Rescuer, Romans 11:26, “And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:”

2) He is the Redeemer of those that turn from transgression, Isaiah 59:20, “And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.”

2. Even during the time of Jacob’s trouble God will deliver His people, Jeremiah 30:7, “Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.”

a. This speaks of the Tribulation period, Daniel 9:27, “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”

b. The period will end when Christ appears to rescue His elect, Romans 11:26, “And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:”

c. The Lord will establish His kingdom at that time, Matthew 24:30-31, “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31-And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

B. The name of God defend you, vv. 1-2; Psalms 9:10, “And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.”

1. God will set His people in a high place of defense, Psalms 59:9, “Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.”

2. He is our High Tower, 2 Samuel 22:3, “The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.”

II. UNWAVERING CONFIDENCE IN GOD vv. 5-7

A. In Jesus there is salvation for it is His salvation, Psalms 35:9, “And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.”

1. When David had sinned, he asked God to restore “the joy of THY salvation,” Psalms 51:12, “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.”

2. David had confidence that his salvation was secure, but his SERVICE had been hindered, 1 Corinthians 9:27, “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”

B. God saves His chosen people, Psalms 28:8, “The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.”

III. THE DECLARATION OF THE DEFEAT OF THE FOE vv. 8-9

A. How different is the end of those whose trusts are different, v. 8; Psalms 34:22, “The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.”

B. The enemies of God and His people will die in dishonor as did Sisera, captain of the host of Jabin, king of Canaan, Judges 5:26-27, “She put her hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workmen’s hammer; and with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote off his head, when she had pierced and stricken through his temples. 27- At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down: at her feet he bowed, he fell: where he bowed, there he fell down dead.”

C. But we stand on our feet having trusted in our God, Jeremiah 17:7-8, “Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. 8-For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.”

CONCLUSION

THE TESTIMONY OF THE LORD IS SURE–PSALM 19:7

The testimony of the Lord is based on His holiness. The very nature of God will not allow Him to violate His Word. Therefore, man can put his full trust in God’s Word knowing that that trust will never be violated.

The Psalmist says, “I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.” (119:14). While men seek after the riches of this world, we will seek the riches of the Word of God whose value is far greater.

I. IT IS A SURE DISCOVERY OF DIVINE TRUTH

A. These are PURE words, Psalm 12:6, “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.”

1. They enlighten the eyes, Psalm 19:8, “The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.”

2. We rejoice in His Word, Psalm 119:14, “I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.”

B. These are TESTED words, Psalm 18:30, “As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.”

C. His Word is a SHIELD of protection, Psalm 91:4, “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”

1. He is a FAITHFUL protector, Psalm 89:23,24; “And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him. 24- But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.”

2. His Word DOES NOT change, Hebrews 6:17-18, “Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: 18- That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:”

II. IT IS A SURE DIRECTION IN THE WAY OF DUTY

A. The whole DUTY of man, Ecclesiastes 12:13, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”

1. Fear God, Ecclesiastes 8:12, “Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:”

a. That is the BEGINNING of wisdom, Psalm 111:10, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.”

b. The fear of the Lord is the PRINCIPAL PART of knowledge, Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

c. The man that fears God IS BLESSED, Psalm 112:1, “Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.”

2. KEEP His commandments.

a. PROOF that we know Him, 1 John 2:3, “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.”

b. He ANSWERS our prayers, 1 John 3:22, “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.”

c. This is the LOVE of God, 1 John 5:3, “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”

III. IT IS A SURE FOUNDATION FOR LIVING

A. It makes the believer wise, Psalm 107:43, “Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.”

1. In this we can glory in the Lord, Jeremiah 9:24, “But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the “earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.”

2. To know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, Ephesians 3:18-19, “May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19- And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.”

B. It makes him a wise builder, 1 Corinthians 3:10, “According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.”

1. Be careful how you build, for the wisdom of this world reflects the mind of Satan, Ephesians 2:2, “Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:”

2. For the wisdom of the world is foolishness in the sight of God, 1 Corinthians 3:19, “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.”

IV. IT IS A SURE FOUNDATION OF LASTING HOPE

A. We can dwell confidently in the hope that we have in Christ, Psalm 16:9, “Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.”

B. This hope makes us bold as believers in Christ, Romans 5:5, “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”

C. We can abound in hope because of our sure foundation, Romans 15:13, “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”

1. The Lord is the harbor of His people, Joel 3:16, “The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope (the place of repair or harbor) of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.”

2. Having all sufficiency in all things, 2 Corinthians 9:8,“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

CONCLUSION:

The Testimony of the Lord is sure. We can depend on it. Have you trusted His Son Jesus Christ? He is trust worthy and can save your soul from Hell.

THE STATUTES OF THE LORD–PSALM 19:8

These “statutes” are “right,” i.e., righteous. They are straightforward (frank and easy to understand). His “statutes” are proper.

I. THE STATUTES OF THE LORD ARE RIGHTEOUS

A. These are God’s laws, Leviticus 26:46, “These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.”

B. He requires that which is right in his sight, Exodus 15:26, “And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.”

1. To hearken [TO ATTEND] to God’s voice, Proverbs 7:24, “Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.”

2. You that follow after righteousness, Isaiah 51:1, “Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.”

a. That you seek the Lord, 2 Chronicles 11:16, “And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers.”

b. Look to the Rock from whence you are cut, Deuteronomy 32:4, “He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.”

II. THE STATUTES OF THE LORD ARE STRAIGHTFORWARD

A. God’s Statutes are FRANK.

1. They are TRUTHFUL, John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

a. The doctrine of Christ is called “the truth of the gospel,” Galatians 2:4-5, “And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: 5-To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the TRUTH OF THE GOSPEL might continue with you.”

b. The truth brings freedom from the penalty of sin, John 8:31-32, “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32-And ye shall know the TRUTH, and the TRUTH shall make you free.”

2. They are TO THE POINT, NOT EVASIVE.

a. Man speaks vanity and with a “double heart,” Psalm 12:2,“They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.”

b. God’s Spirit guides us, John 16:13, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”

B. God’s statutes are EASY to understand,

1. God opens our understanding, Luke 24:44-45, “And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45-Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,”

2. He gives us eyes of understanding, Ephesians 1:18-20, “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19-And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20- Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,”

III. THE STATUTES OF THE LORD ARE PROPER

A. They are correct, like proper clothing for the season, Genesis 3:21, “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.”

B. They are needed:

1. Satisfying our souls, Psalm 107:9, “For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.”

2. His Statutes equip us for the task of serving the Lord, Ephesians 4:21-24, “If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22-That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23-And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24-And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”

CONCLUSION:

“The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart:” the Psalmist said. The Believer who follows God’s statutes or precepts will be a very happy person. If you are not happy, perhaps it is because you haven’t followed God’s precepts.

That is a problem easy to resolve. Just begin today trusting Jesus Christ as your Saviour and follow Him. If you are already saved, than you need to dedicate you life to Him and serve Him. Then happiness comes.

PSALM 19:1-14

THE LAW OF THE LORD IS PERFECT

This is the first of six messages from Psalm 19 dealing with the book of the Scriptures.

The purpose of these messages is to make the Word of God more precious to you and more desirable than anything else in your life. May it truly be “sweeter than homey.”

I. THE DOCTRINE OF THE LORD IS PERFECTLY FREE FROM CORRUPTION

A. It is the INSPIRED Word of God, 2 Peter 1:20-21, “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21- For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

B. It is profitable, 2 Timothy 3:16, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”

1. For doctrine (TEACHING), 1 Timothy 4:6, “If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.”

2. For reproof (EVIDENCE OF WRONG DOING), Proverbs 6:23, “For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:”

a. It is a lamp, Psalm 119:105, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

b. It is a light, Psalm 119:130, “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”

c. It is a reproof of instruction, Proverbs 5:12-14, “And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof; 13- And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me! 14- I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.”

3. For correction (RESTORATION), Galatians 6:1, “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”

4. For instruction in righteous, 2 Timothy 2:25-26, “In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26- And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”

a. In children it relates to the cultivation of mind and soul and in training and care of the body.

b. In adults it cultivates the soul in correcting mistakes and curbing passions.

5. That the man of God might be mature, 2 Timothy 3:17, “That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”

II. THE DOCTRINE OF THE LORD IS PERFECTLY FILLED WITH ALL GOOD

A. It restores the soul, Psalm 23:3, “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

B. It cleanses our way, Psalm 119:9, “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.”

C. It makes us “doers of the word,” James 1:21-22, “Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22- But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

III. THE DOCTRINE OF THE LORD IS PERFECTLY FITTED FOR IT’S PURPOSE

A. To keep you from falling, Jude 24a, “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling,”

1. In Christ the Believer shall never perish, John 10:28, “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

2. By faith he has passed from death unto life, John 5:24, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

3. The Believer is sealed by the Holy Spirit, Ephesians 1:13, “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,”

B. To present you faultless before God, Jude 24b, “And to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,”

1. Faultless before God, Revelation 14:5, “And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.”

2. We will have great Joy, Psalm 43:4, “Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.”

3. We will have a great reward, Matthew 5:12, “Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”

CONCLUSION:

Psalm 119:103 says, “How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!”

If this is not your feeling about the Word of God, then you are out of God’s will. If being in God’s house to hear the Word of God taught and preached, you are in bad trouble with the Lord.

The Word of God should be the most important thing in your life. It should be sweeter than honey to you.
