B. Their heart is INCURABLY wicked, Ecclesiastes 9:3, “This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.”
1. Sinners and their sin are a reproach to society, Proverbs 14:34, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”
2. Our lawlessness is multiplied more and more, Isaiah 59:12, “For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;”

III. FACTS ABOUT SIN

A. God did not create sin, 1 John 2:16, “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
B. Sin brought clear change in the attitude of man toward God and of God toward man, Romans 1:18, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;”

THE BLOOD OF CHRIST–JOHN 19:31-35–WITH QUESTIONS

GREAT BIBLE WORDS
THE BLOOD OF CHRIST
John  19:31-35

Ephesians 1:7, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”

Introduction:
Moses wrote in Deuteronomy 21:22-23, “And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree: 23- His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.”
Jesus was hanged on a tree and therefore, cursed of God for our sins. The Jewish law require that a man hanged on a tree must be buried before sunset the same day. Pilate ordered the soldiers to break the legs of those who were crucified in order to hasten their death.
On arrival at the sight the soldiers found that Jesus was already dead and did not break his bones, Psalm 34:20, “He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.” However, one of the soldiers was not convenced and thrust a spear into his side, Zechariah 12:10b, “and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced.”
Blood and water poured out the side of the Lord Jesus. The spear had penetrated the first membrane around the heart callled the PERICARDIUM which contains a watery substance. The spear continued piercing the heart itself from which came the blood. NOW THERE WAS NO DOUBT!! JESUS WAS DEAD! Everyone present saw it. They were eyewitnesses that Jesus died on the Cross.
If there had been no other injury the spear thrust would have killed Him. Now the Sadducees who did not believe in the resurrection, could not make the people believe that Jesus was in a coma and not dead. The resurrection is one of the greatest proofs that Jesus was the Son of God.
Jesus shed His blood because the life is in the blood, Leviticus 17:11, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”
The blood of Christ is the ground, or basis, for many precious blessings:
1. It is the basis for the blessing of_______________: that which turns away the wrath of God, Romans 3:25, “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;”
2. It is the basis for our_________________, Romans 5:9, “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”
3. It is the basis of our ___________with God, Colossians 1:20, “And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.”
4. It is the basis for our BEING BROUGHT ______to God, Ephesians 2:13, “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.”
5. It is the basis for our ____________________and _______________OF SIN, Ephesians 1:7, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”
6. It is the basis for our_________________, Hebrews 13:12, “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.”
7. It is the basis for our being ______________FROM SIN, 1 John 1:7, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
8. It is the basis for our _______________OVER THE DEVIL, Revelation 12:11, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Introduction:
The Greek word translated “soul” is the word PSUCH?. It denotes the breath, the breath of life, then the soul in its various meanings:
1. Persons or individuals are referred to as souls, Acts 2:41, 43, “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. 43- And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.”

3. The Seat of Personality explained as “own self,” Luke 9:24-25, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. 25- For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?”
1) The salvation of the soul, Hebrews 10:39, “But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
2) The Lord was our offering for sin, Isaiah 53:10, “But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.” Compare 1 Timothy 2:6, “Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”
4. The seat of the sentient element in man [the mind] whereby he perceives, reflects, feels, desires, Matthew 11:29, “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”
1) Peace of mind, Psalm 107:9, “For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.”
2) Let your soul delight itself, Isaiah 55:2, “Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.”
5. The seat of will and purpose, Matthew 22:37, “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”
1) The people agreed, Acts 4:32, “And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.”
2) Servants doing the will of God from their hearts, Ephesians 6:6, “Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;”

CONCLUSION

THE RESURRECTION 2–1 CORINTHIANS 15:12-20

GREAT BIBLE WORDS

THE RESURRECTION 2
1 Corinthians 15:12-20
Introduction:
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is one of the cardinal facts and doctrines of the gospel. On this doctrine hinges all of the hopes of Christians everywhere. The whole of the New Testament revelation rests on this as an historical fact.
The Corinthians questioned Paul about the resurrection in v. 12, “Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?” So the burden of proof fell on him for the Greeks could not imagine this having been taught that the body was the prison of the soul and the sooner the soul was set free in death, the better off a person would be. Some of the Greeks even laughed when he raised the subject in Acts 17.

I. THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST IS AN HISTORIC FACT PROVED BY THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPEL
A. Peter argued the necessity of Christ’s resurrection from the prediction in Psalm 16, Acts 2:24-28, “Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. 25- For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: 26- Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: 27- Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 28- Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.”
B. The conversion of Paul himself is a testimony of the resurrection, Acts 9:3-5, And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 4- And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 5- And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.”
C. Our Lord clearly intimates his resurrection Matthew 20:19, “And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.” See also Mark 9:9; Mark 14:28; Luke 18:33 John 2:19-22.

II. TEN DIFFERENT APPEARANCES OF OUR RISEN LORD ARE RECORDED IN THE NEW TESTAMENT
A. To Mary Magdalene at the sepulchre alone, John 20:11-18.
B. To certain women, “the other Mary,” Salome, Joanna, and others, as they returned from the sepulchre, Matthew 28:1-10.
C. To Simon Peter alone on the day of the resurrection, 1 Corinthians 15:5; Luke 24:34, “Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.”
D. To the two disciples on the way to Emmaus on the day of the resurrection, Luke 24:13-35.
E. To the ten disciples (Thomas being absent) and others “with them,” at Jerusalem on the evening of the resurrection day, John 20:19-24.
F. To the disciples again (Thomas being present) at Jerusalem, Mark 16:14-18; Luke 24:33-40 John 20:26-28.
G. To the disciples when fishing at the Sea of Galilee, John 21:1-23.
H. To the eleven, and above 500 brethren at once, at an appointed place in Galilee, 1 Corinthians 15:6; Compare Matthew 28:16-20.
I. To James, but under what circumstances we are not informed, 1 Corinthians 15:7, “After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
J. To the apostles immediately before the ascension, Mark 16:19, “So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.” See also Luke 24:50-52; Acts 1:4-10.
III. IF CHRIST BE NOT RISEN…
A. Then our preaching is in vain or empty, 1 Corinthians 1:18, “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
1. We would be false witnesses, v.15, “Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.”
2. It would prove that Jesus was an impostor and us lairs, Psalms 116:11, “I said in my haste, All men are liars.
B. Then our faith is in vain, v. 17, “And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.”
C. How could we live? v. 19; Ezekiel 33:10, “Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?”

IV. IF JESUS BE RISEN WE WHO HAVE TRUST HIM SHALL ALSO BE RAISED FROM THE DEAD
A. Christ has risen and shows His light to the people, Acts 26:23, “That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.”
B. Because He is risen we shall be raised, Romans 8:23, “And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.”
1. Our own personal resurrection, John 14:2-3, “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3- And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
2. At the coming of the Lord, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.
