GOD MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR YOU TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE.–Lesson 2

CHANGING TO PLEASE GOD
Lesson 2
GOD MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR YOU TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

2 Corinthians 3:5, “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;”

Introduction:

This is the second lesson in this series on Changing to Please God. Here we deal with the source of the power that enables us to change. The Apostle Paul states in our text that we are not sufficient in our selves to make those changes, but God enables us and strengthens us to do it.

I. GOD WORKS IN YOU

Philippians 2:12-13, “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”

A. Work out your own salvation, Philippians 3:13, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,”

B. For God works in you, Hebrews 13:21, “Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

II. GOD GIVES US POWER THROUGH CHRIST

Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

III. HE HAS CALLED US TO GLORY AND VIRTUE

2 Peter 1:3-10, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4- Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5- And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6- And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7- And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8- For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9-But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 10-Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:”

2 Corinthians 3:5, “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;” Psalm 110:3, “Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.”
